Imagination stirred

Moody painting in grey and cream colours
Dark and moody painting of an imaginary demolition site

'Dereliction'...wasteland and derelict places have interesting shapes and worn aged items. There is something about the non-pretty which captures my imagination. My paintings often feature the dull and sombre nature of a wilder place. This painting is about that although it did evolve along its creation. I covered parts, added more, rubbed them with brushes, cloths or my hands and worked until I felt it could rest. I am often tempted to work it too much then regret it. More gesso will cover anything I don't like. The ink drawing is more considered...and carefully placed. If it doesn't work I cover it up, rub it away and begin again. It's a process of creation, destruction and renewal. This is a sheet of 300gsm paper, about 16x11 inches using a mix of Art Graf, Gouache, Gesso and ink.
