My painting world
‘Catch a bit of sun'…the above painting began as horizontal format and is now catching my eye as a vertical piece. Moving away from appearing like a predictable landscape, a vertical format gives it more abstraction. Maybe the Spring sunshine has influenced my process as the greens are beginning to appear in the wild garden. The grass is lush after days of rain and Hazel bushes are showing first signs of leaf. The painting is small, 6x8 inches on textured paper. Drying on the table. I shall leave it alone as I like the rawness of the marks and composition.

These paintings are in water-based paint and are reminiscent of things brought to the shore by the incoming tide. Bits of string and seaweed with old wood make interesting mark-making and scribbles.
Sand and water pools to explore. These are purely imaginary as I work inspired by childhood memories.
