Reworking a painting
Make do and mend...
Throughout my painting life I have destroyed many pieces of work. Some were beyond saving but some, given a bit more patience on my part might have been rescued.
I have learned to persevere recently and give the picture the benefit of the doubt by reworking it. This picture wasn't going well. It was too tight and needed loosening up to give more atmosphere. By scraping back and rubbing to blur some edges, gradually some mystery emerged. Now I could imagine the scene without being told what it represented. It can dry and be saved.
The top picture in orange and black came together by quickly sweeping some dark paint over the brighter orange. It doesn't actually mean anything real, but imagination can once again give me ideas and get me thinking.
